Description of Works
RTL's commitment to providing efficient and cost effective solutions to Hazelwood Power resulted in the formation of an alliance between RTL and Hazelwood Power. Through this alliance, the companies worked together to efficiently manage a range of contracts including overburden removal and the transfer of the mine operations from the South West Field to the West Field which will extend the mine's life for another 30 years.
Scope of Work
RTL supply the mine with mobile plant on a wet and dry hire basis. International Power Hazelwood use dry hire plant on a 24 hour a day basis for work on the coal and overburden dredgers. Wet hire plant is used for infrastructure works in the mine:
- Excavation of approximately 20 million cubic metres of overburden
- Excavation the Ash Ponds
- Diversion of the Morwell River
- Construction of a new section of the Strezlecki Highway
- The provision of a base fleet of mobile plant
- The provision of plant, labour and materials to perform a wide range of earthworks including loading, carting and dozing activities, road making, drainage and excavation of the ash ponds
- The provision of plant, labour and materials to perform conveyor shifting services and other miscellaneous services to support routine operational activities
- The provision of fuel to plant and tanks other than those owned by the Contractor
- The servicing of client vehicles and miscellaneous plant
